In the early 90's Fraenzen Texas and Ruede Hagelstein met each other in a youth club in Berlin’s suburbs. Like many others before them, they escaped from Berlin’s rural areas to be closer to the nightlife of the new unified city. At the village discos they could not still feel the craving for club-music like the E-Werk or the Tresor delivered them later, not to mention the huge culture slots that developed what has been known as Berlin unique techno sound.
Both started working for Flyer Magazine (one of the local music scene’s most important cross points) for a long time, developed their own personalities as djs during after hours and organized their own parties in wild "off" locations. Soon they started playing together, enjoying their common passion for techno music, beards and vodka. Presently, they are residents at the Watergate Club and regularly playing at Bar 25, and are producing music together as The Cheapers.
