Guillamino walks on the human side of electronic music. Handwriting beats mixing dub, hip hop, minimal and house in a unique way, adding some spices from all around the world and singing with a voice full of soul.
Although most of his career has been developed in Spain, in 2007 Guillamino released the international compilation “Atzavara” on the Third Ear label. It gave him the chance to play abroad, not only in Europe but also in Japan. The release was the consequence of star djs John Peel and Gilles Peterson broadcasting Guillamino on BBC-Radio 1, after discovering him at Sónar. Gilles wrote some enthusiastic notes for the Japanese release of “Atzavara”. Now’s the time for his new solo album, “Les minves de gener”, released in Spain in June 2008 and premiered at Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona. The album has been mixed by Dive Dibosso (7 Notas 7 Colores) and shares a love for both electronica and black music. It also takes you on a trip around the world, with spices from Burma and NYC.
Before the release of “Les minves de gener”, Guillamino spent nearly two years working in several side projects that proved his musical world to be extremely open-minded and always full of surprises: Mixing electronic music with traditional Catalan Sardana (“Música de ball”), a weird approximation between hip hop and poetry (“en/doll”) and a song writing project about exile and memory, together with Chilean singer Manuel García (“eXile”). Guillamino also has written music for plays and TV scores. For all these reasons, today Guillamino is one of the most surprising musicians in Barcelona scene.
